Apple Pie - Quick & Easy Recipe

Ingredient

Fruit Base

  • 3 pounds apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (1.35kg)

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Dry Mix (Sweetness + Thickener + Spice)

  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)

  • ½ cup all‑purpose flour (60g)

  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Crust

  • 1 (9‑inch) double‑crust pie dough, store‑bought or homemade

Finish

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, diced

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten


Direction

Prep the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.

Filling

1. Coat the Apples

  • In a large mixing bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice.

  • Add sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  • Stir until apples are evenly coated.

Bottom Crust

2. Roll the Dough

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll one disc of pie dough into a 12–14 inch circle.

3. Line the Pie Dish

  • Transfer dough to a 9-inch pie dish, letting excess hang over the edges.

  • Pour the apple filling into the crust and spread evenly, slightly mounding the center.

  • Dot the top with diced butter.

Add Top Crust

4. Roll the Second Dough

  • Roll the second disc into an 11-inch circle (about ⅛-inch thick).

  • Place over the filling for a solid top OR cut into strips/shapes for a lattice or decorative pattern.

5. Trim & Crimp

  • Trim excess dough to leave about 1 inch around the edge.

  • Tuck the excess under and crimp as desired.

  • If using a solid top, cut steam vents into the crust.

6. Egg Wash

  • Set the pie on a rimmed baking sheet.

  • Brush the crust with beaten egg.

  • Sprinkle with sugar if desired.

Bake the Pie

7. First Bake

  • Bake at 425°F for 20 minutes.

8. Reduce Heat

  • Lower oven temperature to 375°F.

  • Continue baking 50 minutes to 1 hour, until the crust is deep golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

9. Protect the Crust

  • If browning too quickly, loosely cover the entire pie or just the edges with foil.

Cool Completely

10. Cool Down

  • Let the pie cool on a wire rack for about 4 hours before slicing.
