French Toast Sticks - Quick & Easy Recipe

Prep: 25 min + Frez. Bake: 25 min. Serving: 2 dozen

Free

Ingredients

Base

  • 6 slices day‑old Texas toast

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup 2% milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼–½ tsp ground cinnamon

Crunch Coating

  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes

Toppings

  • Confectioners’ sugar

  • Maple syrup

Direction

1. Prep the Bread Slice each piece of day‑old Texas toast into three even strips. Set aside.

2. Make the Custard In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar (if using) until smooth.

3. Soak the Bread Place the bread strips into the custard mixture. Let them soak for 2 minutes per side so they absorb the flavor.

4. Add the Crunch (Optional) For a crispy coating, press each soaked strip into crushed cornflakes, making sure all sides are covered.

5. Freeze to Set Arrange the coated strips in a baking pan in a single layer. Freeze until firm — 45 to 60 minutes. (This helps them bake up crisp and hold their shape.)

6. Bake Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place the frozen strips on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes, flip, then bake another 8–10 minutes or until golden brown and crunchy.

7. Finish & Serve Dust with confectioners’ sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, or add your favorite topping.
