Spicy Chicken Wings with cheese dip - Quick & Easy Recipe

Chicken Wings & Marinade

  • 1 cup reduced‑sodium soy sauce

  • ⅔ cup sugar

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp grated orange zest

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 3 lbs chicken wingettes and drumettes

  • 3 tsp chili powder

  • ¾ tsp cayenne pepper

  • ¾ tsp hot pepper sauce

Blue Cheese Dip

  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • ½ cup blue cheese salad dressing

  • ⅓ cup buttermilk

  • 2 tsp Italian salad dressing mix


Directions

1. Marinate the Chicken In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, sugar, salt, orange zest, garlic, and pepper. Pour half of the marinade into a large shallow dish. Add the chicken; turn to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. Cover and refrigerate the remaining marinade separately.

2. Bake the Chicken (First Bake) Drain the chicken, discarding the used marinade. Transfer chicken to a greased 13×9‑inch baking dish. Cover and bake at 325°F for 1½ hours, or until the juices run clear.

3. Season and Bake Again Using tongs, transfer the chicken to a greased 15×10×1‑inch baking pan. In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, cayenne pepper, hot pepper sauce, and reserved marinade. Drizzle the mixture over the chicken. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes, turning once halfway through.

4. Make the Blue Cheese Dip In a small bowl, whisk together:

  • mayonnaise

  • blue cheese salad dressing

  • buttermilk

  • Italian salad dressing mix

Refrigerate until serving.

5. Serve - Serve the hot wings with the chilled blue cheese dip.
